P8 - Foundation European Centre Valuation Prior Learning

The Foundation European Centre for Valuation of Prior Learning strengthens the integral process of knowledge and information about general and specific aspects of the "Valuation/Validation of Prior Learning (VPL)" by:

  • research in this field,
  • developing and implementing experiments and projects on sectoral, national and European levels,
  • disseminating results and good practice of the use of VPL.
  • The Foundation studies, accumulates and distributes information on every imaginable aspect of VPL, such as national and international information pertaining to VPL projects, procedures, instruments, financing, yield and legislation. Incidental bottlenecks in the sphere of legislation and regulations are surveyed and discussed with the responsible authorities.

Apart from other European projects, in 2007 the Foundation led and completed the Leonardo-researchproject “Managing European diversity in lifelong learning” (www.vpl4.eu). In this project the Foundation works closely together with the School of Education of in Holland University of Applied Sciences. It is in this cooperation that the combined expertise on validation and on lifelong learning comes to full bloom. The main focus is on the professionalisation of teachers and teachertrainers in the fields of lifelong learning and validation of non-formal and informal learning.

Together with the Foundation Competence Management CH-Q/NL-B (www.ch-q.nl) a programme for selfmanagement of competencies is developed and integrated for teachers and teacher-trainers.
